Vmigo virtual pet friends feature a handheld unit and a separate TV-based docking station. Play games on the go, or plug the docking station into your TV and bring your pet to life on the big screen. You can personalize your pet, teach him tricks or even hook up to other Vmigo pets via infrared technology. The console includes one Golden Retriever interactive pet; each additional pet sold separately. Requires 3 "AAA" batteries (included) and 4 "AA" batteries (not included). Measures 16"L x 4"W x 12"H. Customer Reviews: 0 of 0 found this review helpful: Great for what I paid, not too babyish, 2008-07-08 This is a nice virtual pet simulation, I got it cheaply, very cheaply off ebay. You would be crazy to pay the original selling price of 50$ for this however time has passed and prices have dropped so I don't think that will be an issue with this toy anymore. For those having trouble getting it to save you have to pull the pod out without turning it off to get it to save, if you turn it off before you take out the pod it will not save. You basically never need to hit the power button on the console except like the first time you use it. It doesn't seem to matter if the pod is on or not when you put it into the dock, either way it turns on. I know its odd but thats what works. For those wondering about the graphics its about what you would see on a Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo video game console. The graphics look pretty realistic for what they are and do not look too kiddie, babyish or cutsie. I bought this thing used and it still works so it must be pretty durable however it does seem cheaply made (the pods seem better made than the dock). The pods come with scratched screens directly out of the package even if they are brand new, which doesn't make much sense as I am picky about scratches and things like that. I have the dog and the cat and the paint on the pink cat pod comes off with just a fingernail scratch and the paint on the console is off as in the paint goes over the lines as if someone was coloring outside the lines in a coloring book. I don't appreciate that this toy takes THREE AAA batteries, its an odd number and hard to work around, just make the thing take 2 or 4 batteries, preferably AA which are common and cheaper. I don't care if the pod gets bigger due to battery choice but AAA's run out fast especially since this device is backlit and you cannot see anything much without the backlight on. 1 of 1 found this review helpful: at walmart for $15 , 2007-11-28 I bought this for my 8 year old son at walmart for 15 bucks. I was a bit worried because of the price (thinking it was a piece of junk) but he really loves it and it's teaching him a little responsibility. 2 of 3 found this review helpful: bored before long....., 2007-03-05 I bought this for my ten year old daughter for Christmas. She could not stop playing with it for about a month, now it just sits there. I guess you do the same stuff over and over and it doesnt change. She ops to play with the pc or game cube more. Does teach about taking care of a pet though. Also do not like that fact that it is all battery operated. I would prefer a plug. 4 of 4 found this review helpful: The small guide to Vmigo..., 2007-02-21 Vmigo is an awesome toy. It works very well. Starting it up: So easy to start it up! Just hold down the ? button and you see Vmigo or something on it. It gives you instructions, you put your name & B-day in it, and adopt your first dog! It's easy to set up the TV. Place batteries in the thing, plug it into the TV, turn it on, put the ON vmigo in the docking station, and flip through a few channels and find what channel supports it. My TVs (theyre normal big Tvs) are on Video 2. The kitchen TV (it's small) supports Vmigo on another channel. Either 3 or the channel that comes before the number channels. You can also plug the docking station in the DVD player or something I think. The Vmigo buttons are easy to work. To access stuff in the room, press a and you see icons. Press left control thing and you see new ones. A bed and zs, fireplace, Tv, and stereo. Press the direction on the arrow pad the icon is at. You can also press ? for how to do that. With B you see icons. Go down and you are shown places to go on the screen. Go to the kitchen to feed and the garden to go wee wee. The pups don't have accidents luckilly! If you get bored, you may leave the Vmigo but when you come back you might have to take it over to the vet if it's been a day. Luckilly it's free! Buy a brush at the store to make quick cash. You could always go into walk mode on the handheld. It's a perdometer! Shake it or clip it on for a walk! You can read the instructions for more info! The only problem is that you can't connect a pod to another pod. The person only appears on the friend list. It is ver fun and easy to see! I bought two, one for my 6 1/2 year old daughter, and one for my 11 year old sister. They both LOVE them. Very simple set up, very simple to learn to use. My only complaint is the handheld piece is not very easy to see the screen, and not easy to turn off. That being said, I am happy with this purchase!
